Frequently asked questions

A quick look at how kino.is works and what you can do here.

What is kino.is?
kino.is is an online encyclopedia and movie catalog: over 900,000 films and series with descriptions, KinoPoisk and IMDb ratings, cast and crew, stills, awards and trivia. It’s an easy way to choose what to watch and keep personal lists and ratings. Learn more on the About page.
Can I watch movies directly on kino.is?
kino.is is an information catalog; it does not host or distribute video. To watch, we show a “Where to watch” section with links to legal online services and streaming platforms, plus cinema showtimes with tickets available through official box offices.
Is the service free?
Yes. Registration, the catalog, personal lists, ratings and data import are provided free of charge. The terms are described in the Terms of Use.
How do I keep lists and rate titles?
Sign up and log in to your account. On any film’s page you’ll find the “Will watch”, “Watching”, “Watched” and “Favorite” buttons, plus rating. Your lists are stored in your profile.
Can I import ratings from other services?
Yes. kino.is supports import from IMDb, Letterboxd, Trakt, Kinorium and KinoPoisk — the “Import” section in your profile. We’ll match the titles to our catalog and transfer your ratings and lists.
Where do the ratings and film data come from?
We use open and aggregated sources, including The Movie Database (TMDB), Wikidata and others, and we also show KinoPoisk and IMDb ratings. Rights to images and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
How does the “Where to watch” section work?
We show which legal platforms offer a title (subscription, rent or buy), based on your country. The link takes you straight to the rights-holder’s service. kino.is does not host video and does not provide pirated access.
I found an error in a film’s data. What should I do?
Email us at [email protected] with a link to the page and a description of the inaccuracy — we’ll fix it. Thanks for helping us improve the catalog.
How do I delete my account and data?
You can delete your account and associated data in your profile settings or by request at [email protected]. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
I’m a rights holder and want material removed. What now?
See the Copyright holders page. Email [email protected], specifying the protected work, links to the pages and proof of authority — well-founded requests are handled as a priority.
