Debuting in the early nineteenth century, an annual race was held for over 100 years before being forced off by the construction of Jeddah’s Islamic Seaport, in place of the older "Al-Bunt Port". Today, those boats are docked and locked away in what is sometimes referred to as "Al-Sanabeek Cemetery"
