- Полное имя — Тандиве Нэшита Ньютон (Thandiwe Nashita Newton). В титрах ее первого фильма — «Флирт» — имя ошибочно написали как Тэнди Ньютон, что звучит более по-западному, после чего актрису долгие годы знали под этим именем. В апреле 2021 года актриса настояла, чтобы в будущем её называли тем именем, что было дано при рождении.
- У Тандиве Ньютон есть трое детей от брака с Олом Паркером — дочери Рипли Паркер (род. 17.12.2000), Нико Паркер (род. в декабре 2004) и сын Букер Джомб Паркер (род. 03.03.2014). Рипли была названа в честь героини Сигурни Уивер из фильма «Чужой» (1979) Эллен Рипли, а Нико в честь немецкой певицы Нико.
